Mother Nature was in a fierce mood but was no match for the spirits of the brothers and sisters of OSIA.

February 28, 2009 - The weather outside was frightful, but the attendees at the 10th annual Cooley’s Anemia Dine Around were all delightful. Organized by the New York State Grand Lodge of OSIA (Order Sons of Italy in America) and held on February 12th at Verdi’s of Westbury, the snow, rain and ice didn’t keep OSIA members and other participants from making this marvelous event another big success.
It was a touch and go situation for a while, but those who came from near and far gave it all they had to make it happen. Twenty-nine restaurants participated, along with two bakeries and a winery, providing food fit for a king. The Committee members were very enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated, and DJ Joey was on hand to keep things lively and make everyone forget the inclement weather outside.
CAF was represented by National Executive Director Gina Cioffi, Esq. and Program Coordinator Eileen Scott. Ms. Cioffi praised the brothers and sisters of OSIA for their commitment to ending thalassemia, and gave special thanks to New York State OSIA President Nancy DiFiore Quinn, OSIA National Vice President Joseph DiTrapani and New York State OSIA Cooley’s Anemia Chairperson Josephine Palawsky and Co-Chairperson Joan Rondinelli for their leadership, vision and devotion to helping all those with thalassemia.
